Who says you cannot have an apple filled dish as lunch. Here's an apple filled recipe which is savoury and that you can enjoy with your gravys, sauces or dals.

Apple Paratha Pockets / Oats Almond Apple Paratha Pockets

RECIPE

Yields: 6 parathas

Cook time: 20 minutes

Tools: Skillet, grator, Mixer Grinder.


INGREDIENTS 

For Paratha Packet

1 cup wheat flour

1/4 cup almonds

1/4 cup instant oats

1/2 teaspoon salt

2-3 teaspoon oil

1 cup milk and water mix

For Stuffing

3-4 apples, peeled and grated

1/2 cup grated cheddar or mozzarella cheese

1/2 teaspoon Salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper powder

1/2 Juice of a  small lemon

2-4 tablespoons ghee for roasting


METHOD

In a mixer jar finely grind oats and almonds.

In a bowl add oats almond powder, wheat flour, salt and oil



Add milk water mixture and knead a semi soft dough

Add few drops of oil, cover and set aside

Wash and peel apples. Cut into 4 and remove the centre part.


Add lemon juice and grated cheese. Mix well by adding salt and black pepper.

For preparing parathas, pinch 2 lemon sized balls from the dough, will make 2 rotis for 1 paratha.

Roll small and slightly thick circles out of the dough balls.

Keep one circle aside. Take another circle, fill 2-3 tablespoons full of stuffing and spread it over, leaving a cm around the edges.

Place the second circle on top of stuffing.


Gently press the sides with the help of a fork. Dip the fork in dry flour so it doesn't stick.

Heat a griddle and slighlty grease with some ghee. Place one paratha. Top side down.

When the colour of the paratha changes a little. Turn it over.

Cook on both side till you see golden spots evenly all over the paratha.

Press slightly with a spatula to get the spots.

Repeat this with all the parathas.

Cut with pizza cutter into 4 pieces and serve with dal fry or any dip you prefer.
