Nothing is more comforting in winter than sipping your favourite hot drink while relaxing or reading a magazine on your easy chair.
So here I present to you my crazily loveable drink Bicerin.
Bicerin is a traditional hot drink native to Turin, Italy, made of espresso, drinking chocolate, and whole milk served layered in a small rounded glass.I used whipping cream on top to make the drink creamier and yummier.
Winter Bicerin Drink
RECIPE
Serves: 2
Prep time: 5 minutes
Cook time: 10 minutes
Tools Needed: Sauce pan
INGREDIENTS
1. Milk chocolate bar 55 grams
2. Full fat milk 1/4 cup
3. Coffee powder 1 tbsp.
4. 1/4 cup fresh cream
5. Sugar 2 tsp
6. Water for coffee Decoction 1/2 cup.
7. Whipping cream 1/4 cup
8. Chocolate shavings for garnish
METHOD
Prepare strong coffee by heating 1/2 cup water and add coffee powder, let the coffee powder dissolve, remove from flame and set it aside.
Prepare hot chocolate, heat fresh cream and full fat milk in a pan and add chopped chocolates. Once the chocolate starts to dissolve, switch off flame and whisk the mixture till chocolate melts completely. Hot chocolate is ready, set this aside
Whisk your whipping cream a little so that it's thick. You can easily replace whipping cream with more fresh cream, only add 2 drops of vanilla essence and 2 teaspoons of castor sugar and whisk well for smooth creamy texture.
Assembling the drink, in a clean glass pour half of your chocolate drink.
Using back of a spoon pour gently the coffee drink over the hot chocolate. This ensure the layers do not mix before serving.
Now repeat the process with the whipping cream. Pour over the coffee mixture.
Top with chocolate shavings. Decorate the serving plate as you like. I used cocoa powder and a kitchen spoon to make this design.
Repeat with another serving. This recipe yields 2 glasses of this drink. You can see all the three layers, cream, coffee then hot chocolate.
