Cheese Papdi



Papdi is used for making, dahi chaat, sev puri, aloo chaat and it is also crushed and added in bhel to give extra crunch. This street food can be easily made at home with very basic few ingredients. Cheese papdi is nothing but, just a new and peppy version of the traditional Papdi.

Cheese Papdi 

RECIPE 

Serves: 10 people

Prep time: 20 minutes 

Cook time: 15 minutes

Tools: kadai, grater, rolling pin

INGREDIENTS 

1. Maida 2 1/2 cup
2. Fine Semolina 1/2 cup
3. Cheese 1/4 cup grated
4. Carom seeds 1 tsp
5. Ghee 1/4 cup
6. Oil for frying 2 cups

METHOD


1. Grate cheese cube and crush carom seeds between your palms. 

2. In a bowl mix flour, semolina, salt, crushed carom seeds, grated cheese and ghee. 



3. Add water to knead a semi stiff dough. 

4. Let it stand for 30 minutes. 
 



5. After 30 minutes divide the dough in 8 parts.

6. Make rounds and roll into thin discs. 

7. Poke holes on the disc using fork. 




8. Use a round cutter or bottle cap with 1.5 inch diameter and cut rounds. Repeat the same with other dough ball. 

9. Heat oil for frying in frying pan or kadai.




10. Check if oil is medium hot, by putting a small piece of dough. If the dough floats to top gradually, start frying papdi.

11. Add few discs in one batch and let them fry slowly. 

12. Remove from oil when golden brown and keep on a plate. Fry all the discs in same way. 




13. Enjoy crunchy cheesy papdi as is or make chaat with your favorite toppings.
